PA  OH&S Strategy Document  : SUB-CONTACTORS                                                   

Roles and Responsibilities of Prefect Agencies and sub-contracting staff attending a Prefect Agencies clients premises.

It is the responsibility of all Sub-Contractors attending  our clients worksites to ensure the following:

1.  Responsibilities

a)    be suitably qualified and competent;

b)    use appropriate maintained equipment;

c)    operate in a timely and safe manner;

d)    comply with all site procedures;

e)    that the site representative has given them the Site Reception Process Induction.

 

Before entering a branch the afore mentioned staff member/s should:

a)    have received the customers work order in advance of their visit;

b)    record their arrival and departure times in the branch attendance log;

c)    have a photo ID and induction card;

d)    identify and list any hazardous materials they intend to bring into the branch ie:- shellite; metho; etc: plus gas soldering irons and its filling canister;

e)    ensure that the work area you are allocated is safe and will not cause any possible hazards to any other personnel on the site. ie:- ensure your tools, tool boxes etc, and any equipment leads (ie;- vacuum lead) are not across pathways and all equipment being used and worked on,  are positioned safely;

f)     ensure the PA Service Record Docket or Sub-contractors TSR form is completed, signed, and branch stamped by a SR. These completed forms are to be returned to PA office as soon as possible.  With respect to TSR forms, if allowed a copy of the completed TSR form should be faxed to PA before leaving the branch. Ensure machine model & serial number are recorded on these forms.

 

2.  Housekeeping & Behaviour Onsite

All the aforementioned staff must:

a)    not take any unauthorised personnel into a branch;

b)    have apprentices supervised;

c)    be courteous and not use bad language;

d)    be respectfully and tidily dressed;

e)    be fit to work at all times;

f)     not park any car causing obstruction to exits especially emergency exits;

g)    not take alcoholic liquor, drugs (other than prescription), or intoxicating substances into a branch;

h)    leave the work area and any other areas used (toilet etc) clean and as they found them;

i)      remove from site and dispose of any waste or faulty items.

3.  Electrical Safety

All afore mentioned staff must:

a)    be suitably qualified and competent;

b)    ensure all mains electrical driven appliances to be used on site have a current  electrical tag. ie:- soldering irons; drills, vacuums, compressors, extension leads, etc;

c)    ensure all machines you are working on, have leads which are to Australian Standards and have a current electrical tag;

d)    ensure machines are unplugged from the electric mains before commencing any work or removing any of their safety covers;

e)    ensure machines are in an electrical and mechanical safe condition before testing.

4.  Environment

All the aforementioned staff must be aware that all cash counting equipment when dismantled contains dirt and dust.  All dirt and dust must not be blown into the branch atmosphere but should be either:-

a)    vacuumed out of the machine or;

b)    remove the machine from the branch to be blown out.

5.Fire Safety

Contractors  must follow the Fire Safety and Emergency Evacuation Procedures as listed in the site specific  branches.
